Dates for "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning" exam

Hi!
Today Oracle posted info about the new Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning exam needed for the new expert certification:
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_054#2
It says that pre-registration for the beta exam starts today, however, it does not say when the beta phase starts and ends. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Marcus
Nothing has been announced so far about the close date of this Beta Exam.
Oracle Certification Program Beta Exams
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=182
Hi Marcus,
Please take a look on the prometric website 2test.com
Today I controlled and the beta exam is present in the list, but the exam can only be booked in 17th December and up to 16th January 2009.
So you should be able to register for your exam as it is present in the prometric website under the oracle tests.
On the address given by Hussein it stands now :
Beta Pre-Registration start date from Nov 19, 2008
Good luck for preparing your beta exam.
Regards,
Hub
Oracle has the right to extend the beta exam period, so I suggest you keep an eye on the link referenced above for any further updates.
Hello Hussein
Yes true, I remember it for the OCE and Linux exams they rescheduled the end date several times. As far as I know it is related to the number of participants and the given feedback.
I've also participated to several other exams, and I must admit that it is a long and hard process to get through. When I got the feedback 10 weeks after the beta period closure, I had to review nearly all the topics to get the exams passed the second time. But this it is a cheap and good exam preparation.
What about you Hussein? Do you think that's trivial?
Cheers,
Hub
March 31, 2009 is the current tentative end date for the 1Z1-054 beta exam. This date is subject to change.

certification

For the first time Certification program, what version of oracle do you suggest to go for, I have a total of 3 years development experience in pl/sql oracle 8i and 9i.
I am interested in changing my path to DBA. Should I go for Oracle 8i or 9i certification program OCA?
Your inputs will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
MD
If you haven't already started the 8i certification track, it has been closed for some time. Your only option at the moment is 9i certification (though I assume 10g certification tracks will become available in 6-9 months).

Thanks for your reply.
I am looking for some good books, what do you think about the following :-
OCP: Oracle9i Certification Kit
By Chip Dawes, Biju Thomas, Doug Stuns, Matthew Weishan, Joseph C. Johnson
Hardcover / Sybex / 15 June, 2002 / 0782140661
Please suggest some good books.
Thanks
Hi 49204
You have 2 options if you want to be an OCP DBA9i.
1st option. To take 5 exams to be an ( OCP DBA8i ) and if
you take another one you can upgrade your certify to be an ( OCP DBA9i )
2nd option. To take 4 exams to be an ( OCA & OCP DBA9i ) but you have to attend one course in Oracle University (OU). The cost of that course is $1375. Some people is not near to any OU and because of that they have to go through the first option.
Here you will be able to find all information about certifies:
http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/
in 8i there are 2 certifies and in 9i there are 6 certifies. I have 7 from those 8 and in next month I am going to attend the OCM Practicum exam which is the unique exam that I need in order to have all them.
I have a lot of experienece in this stuff. If you have any question you can post again.

Hey Joel,
I heard Oracle 8i certification is retired or maybe it is going to retire, is this correct, if yes, than i have to opt the second option with no other choice. And 10g is also in pipeline.
Let me know.

after end date of a beta exam

Hi,
This close date of tis beta exam http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=&lang=&p_exam_id=1Z0_151 is May 19. So after this and until the release date of production exam, WHAT will hapen with this Forms exam? Can it be scheduled after May 19 (as beta), when normally the exam is in POST BETA REVIEW stare, so if i log in on Pearson account, can i still see 1Z1-151? So it can no longer be scheduled ~10 weeks, until the production exam will be released?
Thanks!
Edited by: Roger22 on 03.05.2012 14:49
Access to a beta exam ends on the beta end date. From that date until the exam is in production, some exams are not available for registration at all. However, some exams will open for pre-registration. Which means that if the 151 beta exam ends on May 19, you can register for the production exam on May 20, but the appointment date will be a date in the future. You will be able to register for a future exam date starting May 20, but you will not be able to TAKE any exam between May 19 and the future start date of the production exam.
You will not be able to register for a BETA exam after the beta end date.

OCP 10 Certification

Hi,
I am an OCA (Oracle 9i). I have passed my first exam on 01st july 2002 of IZO-001 and Fundemantals 1 in 2004. I am planning to move towards 10g and complete my OCP certification. I have few questions related to this.
1. I have to appear in Admin1 and Admin 2 module of 10G to complete my OCP cerftification for 10g. Is this true?
2. Do I need to take any course from oracle university in order to get certificate from oracle? As I read from website that there is an exemption for the applicants who have passed their first test before 01st September 2002. Please clear this point as I have passed my first exam before 01st september 2002.
I shall be really thankful to you for your quick and favorable response.
Hi,
to be a oca you have to pass iz0-007( 9i sql)+iz0-042 ( admin 1)
To be a OCP you have to pass oca and izo-043 .
Regards
Rajat
I have done 9i OCA, am i exempt from not given sql paper for 10G ceritfication? Also guide me about my second question.....
